Welcome to my course about communicating with our children about adoption. When I talk to adult adoptees, so often they tell me about the hurt and loss they experienced when they were not able to express every aspect of who they were to their parents. It is vital for children growing up with adoption as part of their lives to have a space where they can process their experience with supportive parents. This course will help you understand where your child is mentally each phase they grow through and give you ideas of how to communicate with them about adoption. We will also get into some issues to look out for at every stage of childhood. I hope this will be a jumping-off point for parents to do their own research and find a way to navigate conversations about adoption that work for their family. There are many ways to talk about adoption. The important thing is that adoption is discussed openly and honestly.
