Consider Supporting the work of Adoption Uncovered
Adoption has been a presence in my life for about 20 years. Foster care became a part of my world a few years after our adoption experience began. I have learned from so many of the people I have interacted with from social workers to other adoptive parents, to adoptees, to first families who have had their children taken from them and placed in foster care. When I first began my podcast a couple of years ago and started writing articles about different aspects of adoption I gained a new appreciation for the effect adoption has had on so many communities of people all over the world. Adoption and foster care touch on many issues, like how our country treats those experiencing poverty, the different ways cultures clash as people seek to care for children overseas, and how the history of our country still affects the way we treat groups from Native Americans to women in general. My project is my way of trying to bring to light ways adoption and foster care should be done better for everyone involved.
